Hairspray!

On November 16th, the 8th and 7th grade classes were very lucky to be able to see Girard Academic Music Program high school. Everything was very prim and professional. The wigs, costumes, choreography and stage props. There was even a giant smoke spewing hairspray can! Starting in June, the students were working hard to make this production come out as extravagant as it did that day.

Pssa Review

The Pssa’s....................... we all hate them, and knowing their importance raises the stress level to a thousand! I’m sure we’re all wondering “Why does ONE little test determine if we fail at life or don’t?” I know I was thinking, “What’s the point of working our butts off to get good grades just so are high school placement can get determined by the Pssa’s?” Even though it is a pain in the neck we all must remember that it actually does help kids have an end goal in mind for their studies to make sure they have everything thing they need to succeed in life. Pssa’s really do help you in the long run along with being the main thing that determines what high school you’re placed into. It also helps with studying habits and testing skills. Even though it’s very stressful it certainly helps with getting ready for the preparation of test, because everyone knows that at some point they had to study for the Pssa’s. So while everyone was studying and preparing they probably gained much more knowledge and wisdom which can be used in the future! There are many reasons why we should appreciate the Pssa’s instead of bashing them! Don’t forget these facts because they can be very crucial to your future, that’s all for now ttyl! =D

Poetry Slam

The poetry slam is on Wednesday, April 29, 2010. It would be in the auditorium at 12:30 pm. Every 7th grader has to read at least one poem from their magazine that they made. There will also be a “open mic” and “slam dunk”. “Open mic” is when anyone can read their poems or rap. “Slam dunk” is when people can compete by trying to read their best poems. Then people that don’t know you will judge and judge them to see who will be first, second, third. There is also one other award for “honorable mention”. Dr. Marshall ordered four trophies for the first, second, third, and honorable mention.

Wolf Men spotted at McCall

The male teachers at McCall grew beards in preparation of the PSSA.  They had before and after snapshots taken of themselves to show their progress and hopefully after seeing what their teachers did, they will try their hardest to study and do very well on the PSSA. Students can get ready for the PSSA by sleeping and eating right, studying and doing study island assignments, review and going over old test and doing practice test, get help with the subjects and areas your not too good at. Some teachers, such as our 8th grade math teacher said that “Since the students hate my beard so much if they do good and get advanced and proficient on the PSSA I will shave my beard off if they do bad I’m keeping it.”

The Unveiling Walls Of President

This beautiful sign was made my our one
and only art teacher, Ms. Craven, and our student council president, Katie Zhao

To celebrate presidents' day, Dr.Marshall and the eighth graders came up with an activity. Every eighth grader had information on different presidents. Students from lower grades came to learn about the 44 presidents. There was food there for the guesses that are invited. It was crowded. I could barely walk through everyone. I thought it was amazing. People use to say "The More, The Merrier", well it's true, it's so fun. The 8th graders were so amazing! They gave very well information about their president. It was cool how they had portraits of all the presidents on the wall.

Here's Judge Rizzo giving her
touching and heart warming speech.

younger kids
